When Saul of the Bible was converted. He was no longer in bondage to his pride and was able to embrace his Godly design. Being called small was no longer an insult. At first he was wanting not to be called Paul. This was only a manifestation of his pride. Christ through His Holy Spirit changed pauls attitude and thus he was now happy to call himself Paul. We all have these things in our lives (thorns), that if we embrace them, will allow Gods strength to shine through us. Remeber it is not important for people to see how great we are but how great He is.

The name "Paul" is a name given to boys. It is pronounced as "pahl" and is believed to mean "little". The word is of Latin origin. The name is used widely in several Christian countries as it was the name of one of the leading disciples of Jesus. The apostle Paul is the source of a lot of the material in the New Testament. There are various variations of Paul in European languages including Pablo in Spanish, Paulus in Latin, Pavel in Slavic, Paolo in Italian, Pauel in Dutch, Paulino in Portuguese etc.

The name has a total of twenty six variations including Pasha, Pal, Pavlik, Pawel, Poll, Havel, Pauly, Pol etc. Other notable people named Paul besides the apostle include a Russian Czar, Paul Atreides the messiah in the Dune series written by Frank Herbert and Saint Paul
