So my two friends know i cant afford a cell phone, and both of them want to give me their old phone. One is a Samsung Note 3 that is cracked but has a good camera and the other is an iPhone 5s. Which one is the best to choose?

I'd say iPhone. You do realize that you have to pay for service, right?

I would take the Samsung note - because in the Google app store there is an app called Kodi that will let you watch free movies and tv shows - basically anything you want for free. There are youtube videos that show how to easily set it up.
