Nepal is not considered a majority Muslim country. In fact, Nepal's Muslim community makes up less than 5% of the entire population.

The major religion is Hinduism, which 81.3% of the population follow.

And before a move for democracy in 2006, the country was officially considered a Hindu state, whereas now it is officially a secular country.

Contributor Rajesh Shri's answer is misleading because it omits mention of the existence of the independent Kingdom of Judea (situated in part of modern day Israel) from Biblical times. His answer also omits mention of the later independent Kingdom of Israel prior to Roman times.

I think it's mainly due to the fact that the U.S. Had and has so many bases there and it was considered important to make the Hawaiian islands the 50th state in 1959. It was made a state mainly because of it's military importance.
