To the west of Colombia lie 'Panama' and the Pacific Ocean. The capital city of Colombia is Bogotá. The total population of Colombia is around 45,650,000. The official language spoken in Colombia is 'Spanish'. Colombia attained its independence from Spain on the 20th of July in the year 1810. The current president of Colombia is Alvaro Uribe Velez.

    The country of Colombia is the fourth-largest in South America, the first three being, Brazil, Argentina and Peru. Most of the human settlement in Colombia is found in the mountainous ranges, including the capital city of Bogotá.
