What Is Wireless?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

In the computer world, wireless is a data communication method which involves sending the data through the air.  Two computers can transfer messages between each other by sending tiny electrical signals (at very high frequency) through the air.

The computer in your home will typically have its wireless signals picked up by a wireless router, which is plugged into your phone line or cable point.  That router then transmits the signals down the wire and on to the Internet.  Responses from a remote computer (eg, a web site) are received from the Internet by the router and broadcast wirelessly through the air, which your computer picks up and decodes.
