      David Levy is a Jewish Canadian Astronomer and science writer. He was born in 1948 and he is famous for his discovery of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 in 1993. He was born on May 22, 1948 in Montreal, Canada. Levy had interest in astronomy since his early childhood. He did his bachelors and masters in English Literature. He discovered 22 comets either with his co-partners Gene and Carolyn S. Shoemaker or independently. The number of books written by Levy are more than 30. All his books are on astronomical objects and his most famous book is 'The Quest for Comets'. In 1980, he was awarded C.A Chant Medal, and asteroid 3673 Levy was named after his name. For the discovery of comets, he got Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory's Edgar Wilson Award. Moreover, in 2008, Levy co-designed 'The Comet Hunter'.
