It is used in artificial breathing systems in the hospitals. Oxygen is also used in making methanol and ethane oxides. In addition, various chemical compounds are used by using oxygen. It is also used is rocket fuel oxidants. Oxygen is commonly used in the steel manufacturing. It is used by the living organisms to breath and oxidation of food. Moreover, ozone layer is made up of oxygen which protects the earth from the ultraviolet radiations of the sun.

      Oxygen is used for various purposes but the major use of oxygen is for the living things. Basically all of the living things need oxygen to breath. Oxygen is also used for metallurgy, rocketry, chemical synthesis and medicines. Oxygen is also used for making various other products like it is used in the processing of iron ore. Oxygen is also used for welding and cutting purposes. It is used as an oxidizing agent in missiles and rockets. All of the hydrocarbons use oxygen and it is also present in organic compounds. Sewage plants and water purification plants use oxygen. Moreover, oxygen is also used in the artificial breathing apparatus in hospitals.
