    Sir John Vanbrugh was the writer of the famous British drama of ending 1600s, named 'the relapse'. It was performed first in the year of 1696.

    Sir John Vanbrugh was a famous dramatist as well as an architect of his time. He was born on 24th of January in the year of 1664 in London. Sir John was a soldier in his earlier days. He started to write poetry from that time. The main subject of Sir John was comedy of manners. 'The relapse' was his best creation. 'The provoked wife' was also his successful creation which was first performed in the year of 1697. His adoptions were also very much lively as well as famous, such as 'The country house' performed first in the year of 1703, 'The confederacy' performed in the year of 1705.

    As an architect Sir John designed with another architect Nicholas Hawksmoor such creation of Castle Howard of Yorkshire. His master piece was Blenheim Palace. It was started in the year of 1705 and finished in 1716. Blenheim Palace took the British Baroque style to its peak.

    Sir John Vanbrugh died on 26th of March in the year of 1726 in London.
