What Is The Name Of The Literary Agency That Took On J.K.Rowling?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

J.K. Rowling was taken on by The Christopher Little Literary Agency after she submitted a sample of her first novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' to them.

The Christopher Little Literary Agency were the second agent to respond to Rowling (she had been rejected by the first literary agent), and the decision to take her on was due to Bryony Evans, a reader with the agency, enjoying Rowlings manuscript so much that she passed it onto another reader.

Evans persuaded agent Christopher Little to sign up Rowling, and a few days later Rowling received a letter requesting the entire manuscript.

The agency submitted Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to twelve publishers, each of whom turned it down, before Bloomsbury finally made an offer in 1996. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was published on June 26th 1997 in the UK, and September 1st 1998 in the US.
