I don't think there is much to be done about it, except to learn that here as well as everywhere else in life, there will be people doing things that annoy you. It would be nice, if everyone here were respectful and considerate, but this is just a tiny part of the big world, and unfortunately, as with every other activity, club, destination, road trip, class, workplace, etc... There are those few, who just won't behave the way we wish they would. What do you do about it when things and people do not respond to life, with the same attitude as you?
Not sure if there is anything more to be done in this situation. I do agree with Dext. I think getting rid of the points system is probably the only solution. Don't know what we would do about wrong answers though. Most question posters don't know the answer to their question, so how will they know if it is right or wrong? Someone will have to step up to the plate and speak up.
What about the people that ask a question and then turn around and answer their own question? To some extent I do agree with you....however, there are times that I put annoying and irrelevant answers to some questions...I can think of two to date that I have done that.....and that is because I thought the question or comment had no place on Blurtit....one such question was just recently (How to do you hide a body?)...give me a break...the other was a suggestion for someone to commit suicide if they couldn't talk to a girl. Those are the ones that I think deserve such an answer, but if the person is asking out of a genuine search of the truth then I think there should be a legitimate answer. Thanks, Janes
Just ignore them and do not reward them with high ratings. I do not personally care about it, and do not think the points are really important. If they are doing that just to get into the top ten or something, then it is a lot of effort to go to for something which has really no importance. It is not like anyone is winning a prize or something.
Sadly, I don't think that there really is anything that can be done about them. I think that some people new to the site, are just trying to get away with being smart allecky, and then someone usually tells them to knock it off. That is really all that can be done, when they sign up, they are warned about being rude, and if it continues, then the mods will step in if there are complaints about this user.
I would suggest that maybe you politely and tactfully remind the authors of the annoying answers to try a different approach. Most people will listen and try to change unless they have a serious bone to pick.
As for the irrelevant answers, not everyone may be able to adhere to the topic at first, but a gentle redirection by someone in the community may keep us all focused on the tasks at hand. This site is somewhat for entertainment, so a little joke here and there won't hurt us too bad, I would hope, but obviously a little does go a long way for some. If people really want to be here and co-exist with everyone else, we all have to bend a little, but not break, of course. So... I guess just to keep talking about it would be my solution. Enough healthy communication should take care of the problem in no time at all. And it doesn't hurt to have a healthy sense of humor, however this is not comic central nor is it a library. Granted, I'm relatively new here, but I think I have a good sense of what the inventors of this site may be going for in terms of how it operates, and much of it goes back to healthy, positive communication, whether it be a question or an answer, and plenty of good insight with as much accuracy and light-heartedness as possible in the process. And I see no problem with the point system, it's nice to have rewards for good work, even on a recognition level. There's nothing wrong or ineffective with recognizing who has put forth true effort to answer the best they can. As for the "point-seekers," if it makes them happy to seek out recognition for excellent work, then by all means, let them have the points for it. If I did an excellent job at my place of employment, I would expect the same treatment, preferrably in cash of course. Lol I'm hoping this was quite helpful to all who read this, and I'm glad to be in the company of such caring, smart, and conscientious people. Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings. :)
Just they should be eliminated from this site, pick them up whenever they use foul language, just dump them out of this site, remove their information (like blocking them from the site)
