Lions are not diurnal. Their nocturnal (active at night) or crepuscular (active at dawn and dusk). In their natural enviroment it is too hot during the day so they relax in the shade. They do their hunting etc. At night when it is cooler.

Dogs arent diurnal they should naturally be crepuscular but humans have made them become diurnal by domesticating them.

Diurnal is the kind of animal that is active during the day time and most of the mammals and birds are in the diurnal category. Examples of diurnal animals are numerous and dogs and cats are only a few of them.

But if you make these very animals your pet then the situation might change. These pets are close to their masters and their lifestyle has been changed in accordance with the lifestyle of their masters. Human beings are mostly wake in the evening and also a great part in the night, as these pets follow their lifestyle they also become crepuscular, one who is wake up during twilight hours. But when you left them in the wild again they revert back to their original behaviour that is diurnal.

That would be a very long list indeed. We're one. We are up and active and taking care of things during the day when the sun is up and sleep at night and our systems tend to get thrown off if we have to do the reverse for some reason and be nocturnal for awhile (like someone who has to work the graveyard shift).
