Basically agriculture can play an important role in the development of an economy and it is evident from the strong economies of western world. You may know that Britain and many other countries started to gain economic growth when they shifted from an Agrarian economy to a modern economy. Similarly if in South Africa Agricultural sector develops then the living standard of farmers will increase and their income will increase and they will be able to put more in input and therefore, there will be more production contribution. Similarly, agricultural products will stimulate the market and the country will be able to increase its exports more than import and foreign echange contribution will also increase. The country will be on the way of development only through agricultural development.
