To clarify further my point of view about the topic, let me take an example.
Imagine we are in the Stone Age and you have some pet animals (like horses, donkeys or any boarding animal) to carry wood on them for fire.
One day when there is intense cold and you need extra stack of wood as compare to normal need, for that reason you need more animals to carry extra woods. Now how can you estimate how many more animals you need to bear an extra stack of wood?
Here mathematics plays a vital role and can help you to figure out how many extra animals you need to have for extra stack of wood that you need to spend that intense cold day.
Without your knowing it, you are calculating all the time. Judging distance, measuring, balancing and more. When you want to walk to the local market, don't you try to figure the distance, and about how long it will take you to get there and back, or do you drive to the market, and save time. When you cook, you measure, and even if you don't measure, sometimes you just go by sight and determine if this is the amount that you want. Even with balancing, you determine how much or how little angle is need to keep something, like your body, balanced. You measure time too, like "how much time do I have available to do the laundry, or make a meal, clean the house before you have to go to work, or go to bed. I use maths every day. When I am making my monthly budget, when I am even playing a video game on my computer, or writing my script programs. I used to ask that same question when I was attending school. But now I know. We are never without maths.
