In southern Wales in the traditional county of Monmouthshire you can find a place which has got the name of Abertillery in the postal district of NP13. The town is in the county borough of Blaenau Gwent and is located sixteen miles from Newport.

The population of the town is 11,194 as declared in the census of the year 2001 and traditionally people here were employed in several coalmines. But in recent years, the town has seen a drastic transformation in itself and became a clean, modernised area rather than being a industrial town. This objective is mainly achieved because of the funding from the European Union which helped the town to get rid of its industrial past and project the area full of business parks and other open spaces.
