Zinc chloride in a very concentrated solution of hydrochloric acid is known as Lucas reagent. You need a zinc ion to accept the electron pair in the process of preparing alkyl halide. Anyhow you can try out light with chlorine if you want to. But the proper Lucas test is what i explained above
