    New York City covers an area of approximately 830 square kilometers, which is around 321 square miles. It covers an area of  1,214.4 km²  (468.9 sq mi), while land overall consist of 785.5 km²  (303.3 sq mi), the urban area is around 8,683.2 km² (3,352.6 sq mi), the metro area is approximately 17,405 km² (6,720 sq mi) and the rest 428.9 km² (165.6 sq mi) comprise of water.

    It is the largest city in the United States with a population of around 8 million. It is the largest urban area in the world with a population of 18.7 million. It is a main hub for business, finance, fashion, medicine, entertainment, media, and culture, and also a great number of tourist from across the globe with its famous museums and galleries. This city with its activities and attractions is known as the "Big Apple" and also, "The City that Never Sleeps".
