A kitchen scale can be quite a useful tool regardless if you are on eating better, making bread or preserving the harvest. There are three forms of kitchen scales; mechanical, balance and digital. The digital scale contains the advantage of being more precise versus the mechanical model, but both types are of help in the kitchen.
