Dear Sheldon,

I want to give your question a go, even though I don't know much about it...

Because what I think you should consider is some counseling - for yourself. Cocaine addiction is difficult to start with, and free-basing involves even more issues. There are persistent alterations in the brain, a dysphoria/depression and although hopeful research is underway, no well-established fully proven medicines or vaccines yet.

However if you can locate a really expert counselor, it will help YOU with your heartbreak and at the same time prepare you to be there for this person you love, in the most effective way, in the event there ever is an opening for that.

This is the most hopeful website I came across, for cocaine treatment options:

https://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/research-reports/cocaine/what-treatments-are-effective-cocaine-abusers

btw, a friend of mine in San Francisco 1968 got hooked, and he did make it off the drug; as amazing as it now seems, at that time cocaine was not considered physically addictive.

And all good wishes to you with these people you love.

That is the thing about addictions ... As a friend, you can encourage your friend to get help .. But, HE needs to want to get help, is willing to receive it and takes the steps to utilize it.  You can't force someone to want or get help.
