In college, do people actually get pressured/forced to drink by their peers/roommates? If so, why do people try to dictate what others put in their bodies?

  1. They feel insecure being in college, on their own, making their own decisions without the "safety net" of their parents stepping in to stop them.
  2. They want to fit in and feel this is a way to gain acceptance of their peers.
  3. The people that are strongly "encouraging" these kids seem like bullies to me - belittling them when they bow out and then telling everyone what a wuss they are.
  4. Social media has blown everyone's privacy, so what might have been a private act of just saying no can now balloon into a nightmare, capturing this on video to blast out to the world.

Parents should focus their attention on their teens, encouraging as much independence as they can, so when they get around these kids that try to force a decision on your kid, they know how to handle it.
