    There was a total of 2,223 people on board the RMS Titanic, and out of those people, 1,517 died. This left only 706 survivors. The passengers were split into different classes: First, second and third.
    First and second-class passengers had an advantage, as they could easily travel to the boat deck using the staircases that led there. The third-class passengers, however, were situated much lower down, and therefore found it difficult to find their way to the top of the ship. The locked gates that led to the second-class sections also made it more difficult for third-class passengers to escape. As a result of this, there were more deaths from the third-class than the first and second class deaths put together.
    130 first-class passengers died, along with 166 second-class passengers. 536 third-class passengers died. More third-class women and children died, whilst most of the first and second-class women and children survived. Women and children were loaded into the lifeboats first, which resulted in the loss of 1,347 men, as opposed to 103 women. Out of a total of 899 crew, 685 died. 53 children died, which was nearly half of the total amount of children on board.

    Thank-You For The Information It Helped Me Much. But I Have One Question 103 Woman Died That Does Not Include Female Kids Does It?

    The amount of women that died does not include female kids, but there were over 50 children that died. Only one female child who was travelling first class died in the incident as opposed to the 53 third class children that died (so really I should have said 54 when I gave the amount that died before!).     Hey this is great info but the numbers don't add up. The amount of men and crew who died over the toatle to about 2010 and you said 1517 died.

      1,517 died mostly men because they put children and women on frist but some children and women  from the the third-class couldnt get out because they closed the gates so the just had to die by the cold or drown.

        The answer to that question is 1,517 people died. Over 2,000 went out only 483 came back on her.

          No because it would not have been the bigest ship crash if only 611 people died on the docrmentry it said 1,517 died and 783 sevived

            You wouldnt be able to stop a ship going that fast that quickly  and what happen is really sad and i cry at the movie everytime i see it

                If the (stupid) crew did fill the lifeboats properly,,and the woman left their husbands some men would of survived ,,,,read " No Greater love" (by Danielle Steel)if you dont believe me!

                  Its hard to tell but i think it was1517. By reading the book i get to understand all about the TITANIC and im sorry for the people and Family who was on the boat at that time.

                    Because they didn't have time to stop the boat...titanic was going really fast.....
                    And the crew did not close the gates for the 3rd class people and 1571 died and only 705 lived....
