Why do people try SO VERY HARD to make things that happen in film or on TV also happen (or look like they just naturally occurred) in real life too? Why are they so very desperate to make that connection between film and life?

I see similarities between what happens on TV and what happens in real life because lots of shows are written about what happens in real life.
