Why do people hate mixing family and friends together? What is the issue?

I would venture to say that someone has something to hide here and is afraid that friend or family could let the truth slip out and would create a very embarrassing situation for someone

They hate it either because their family is embarrasing or their friends are wierd! I hate having friends over, sometimes. My mum, dad, brother and sisters all find some way of embarrasing me. Ugh... Happy new years! *Gives out free hugs!*
