The American public corporation Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is not only the world's largest retailer but also the second largest corporation (as per their 2006 revenue). For the January 31, 2006 fiscal year ending, Wal-Mart stated a net income of 11.2 billion dollars which were on 316 billion dollars worth of sales revenue (that is, a 3.5 percent profit margin. As of January 04, 2007, the reported revenue was a total of 33.3 billion dollars more than what was reported one year ago.

It is interesting to note that according to the Forbes website, if Sam Walton were alive today, the worth of this founder of Wal-Mart would be twice that of Bill Gates.

Wal-Mart Store was founded by him in the year 1962 and is now the biggest grocery retailer to be found in the United States. It is also the leading private employer in all of the United States as well as Mexico.
