The word "pitta" means "flat" in Greek. It's also the Greek word for "pie". Greeks in Cyprus(Cypriots) usually eat pitta with souvlakia and gyros(kebabs). The same bread is also famous in other countries too apart from mainland Greece and Cyprus.
