Suhail....that is true for some substances, 16 oz (volume) of WATER is 16 oz of weight. Honey for instance, is more dense, heavier. 16 oz volume of honey is 24 oz, Therefore a quart of water is 2 pounds, but a quart of honey is 3 pounds. (I am a beekeeper)
