There are 3 layers. Dorsal, intermediate and ventral nail plate.and each are produced by 3 areas of nail production. 1- dorsal is produced by upper nail matrix. 2- intermediate is produced by lower nail matrix. 3- nail bed is produced by ventral nail plate.
