Mosquitoes are harmless, it's the disease they carry that kill people. Of course, not nearly as many people would have died from those diseases if mosquitoes didn't exist. However, it's important for people to realize that making a vaccine for a disease is much, much easier than ridding the planet of mosquitoes.
