It looks like a Labradorite. It shows the schiller in metallic tints often associated with Labradorite. Some show green, blue and gray hues.
It's hard to tell from the picture but that's my best guess.
What kind of gem is this? It's my mother's, but all she knows about it is that it's supposedly from India. Photos below
It looks to me like labradorite (it looks similar to the piece of labradorite I have in my collection) :)
