I've found that people who are busy discussing others lives probably aren't happy with their own...so just feel sorry for them and pay them no mind. Cos I said so ;)

Those who know me won't believe them. Those who don't know me have little if any impact on my life, so I don't care what they think. As others have said, those that spread lies and gossip don't like themselves very much so they talk bad about others. If someoneis doing that to you, you should pity them.

There are a number of ways .. 1) ignore them and move on 2) confront the gossiper .. And threaten to sue them if they don't stop .. And do it in front of someone else so you can have a witness to their attempting to deny it and try to wiggle out of big trouble 3) talk to the people who mean most to you and explain that the gossip they may have heard IS all lies

True .. and to be compromised by those you trust .. well. that hurts far more than the gossip itself. That is obviously the time to take an inventory of what classifies someone as a friend or someone you deemed trust 'worthy'.

That's so true. The people who matters the most are the ones hurting you
