Is there no one else, other than me, concerned about the practice of dumping dye into the Chicago River? Seems to be a very dangerous and destructive practice in terms of environmental issues. How can this possibly be ok?

Yeah I get concerned with it too, it's just not natural, and I don't believe half of what I hear, or what I'm told.

Three men use flour sifters to dump about 40 pounds of an environmentally friendly orange powder into the river. The fourth drives the boat. The formula for the powder, which turns the water bright green when it hits, is top-secret.

I couldn't find anything about the actual ingredients but as polluted as that river is? Who knows?

I suppose it's 'that' polluted because they allow it to happen .. It just seems funny to me that there are no enviromental efforts being taken to clean up a river that obviously contaminates larger bodies of water? Water that is vital for life (for animal, marine life and humans).
