The fabric was invented as a reusable means to learn polka dancing ... The dots were originally the foot placement. Somebody quickly needing a dress used a nearby polka-dance fabric, and VIOLA!
I was shopping for a dress and saw a Polka dot one. This made me wonder why a Polka dot pattern is called Polka dot ? Anyone know?
