idk what to do abt this situation please help?

I hooked up with this guy a while ago at my party. And he texted me after and was pretty algds abt the whole thing and cared abt how i felt. But then i kinda blew him off coz i thought he might play me. But then later i regretted it and i retexted him and he said he was alg but i guess clearly not bc he went to the ball wit some girl. And i feel like hes using me as backup/side chick now. I just donno wtf to do bc after we hooked up he befriended my male bestie and now their really close and i felt like i lost both connections coz they are rly close now.
