Meals that were actually prepared by the cafeteria ladies. YUM!

Administrators and teachers were actually valued for their opinions. I'm guessing this is no longer allowed.

Calling Christmas parties / Valentine parties / Halloween parties by their actual names instead of a politically correct version.

And finally, the Big Chief tablets and the humongous pencils that went with them in either Kindergarten or first grade. Those were awesome!

THIS one bugs the heck out of me! I knew they were starting to alter the words a bit when I had my kids in public school but the day I learned they cr@ped all over it was the day I lost respect for the school. I was standing in the office waiting in line to ask the office lady something I think. I hear over the intercom the "principal" say ready begin. Then silence. Not one person out side the office stopped. Not one person in the office stood or quit what they were doing. I kept waiting for the pledge of allegiance to begin... for someone to say it! NOTHING! Then the principal starting babbling about how wonderful she thought she was. The worst part about it... had me in tears... there was a dad in his military uniform dropping his son off standing right behind me. I was such a coward. Had I had the confidence i have now, I would have said it alone if even just out of respect for that man! Ugh! It still boils my blood.
