How Do Food Molecules Pass Through A Visking Tube?
The only thing that passes through the membrane is stuff that's smaller than 12000-14000 daltons. This means that a sugar will pass through whereas starch will not. The correct sized molecules will pass from a high concentration to a low concentration environment.
