Are Shetland Ponies easier or a little bit cheaper to own?

I've never owned ponies, but I have owned horses....my guess is yes, they are probably cheaper to own as far as feed and hay goes. They still need groomed and shod though.

Is there a equestrian camp in Ontario where you are assigned a horse and take care of that one horse? Preferably overnight. Cost does not matter.
