A cell wall is fully permeable, this means that almost substances can enter or pass through a cell wall. It made up of cellulose. It prevents the bursting of the plant cell and also gives the  cell a fixed shape

When food is swallowed, it is prevented from going into the trachea bya small flat like structure called the epiglottis
