A Cup is a measurement of capacity or volume, whereas a gram is a measure of mass (~weight). Therefore, technically they can not be compared. However, for water 280 g = 280 cm3 = 280 ml. One (metric) cup = 250 ml. Therefore 280 grams of water = 1.12 cups.
