Anyone know any relatively cheap ways to soundproof a bedroom in a house?

Soundproofing in studios is basically those foam "egg carton" things stuck to the walls.

I looked into it, they are actually used to stop sound echo, they do nothing for sound proofing.

They do a bit.

Also, by reducing the "echo", they reduce the sound hitting the walls.

The more material you have between the walls, the better the soundproofing. So if the wall is not insulated, sound will penetrate easier.

Once I wanted to have a room to practice my music. I used old area carpets and covered the walls, floor and ceiling. It worked in a way.
