Shouts are where the social aspect of Blurtit really comes into its own. Your Shoutbox is where your friends can leave you messages (or Shouts) for you, away from the question and answer side of things.

To access you and your friend's shoutboxes, you first have to be logged in. Now, before you can shout anyone, you first have to be following them, and they also have to be following you back.

If you find someone you want to follow, head to their profile page by clicking on their name anywhere on the site. In the top right corner of their profile page, you should see a small green box labeled 'Follow'. Of course, if you are already following that person, the box will read 'Unfollow', and will possess a faded pale green look.

Once you and your friend's are following each other, you are ready to start shouting! The option to 'Send A Shout' should now appear in the top right corner of your friend's profile page. Clicking on it takes you to their shoutbox, where you will be able to see a list of all the shouts they have received by you and other users, sorted by the most recent first.

Towards the bottom of the page, you will find a text box. In exactly the same way you would if you were answering a question on the site, this is where you input your text for your friends to read. There are a few formatting options for you to play around with here too.

A heads up though, shouts are available for all your followers to see, they are not private messages between two people. Although you can delete old shouts once you are done with them.
