When we moderate questions on Blurtit, we judge appropriateness on a case-by-case basis.

By its very nature, Blurtit is a place where users can safely seek advice on all sorts of problems, and often times that means submissions may be of a personal nature.

We get questions about health conditions, relationships, family disputes, sex... The list goes on.

Our main criteria for deciding which questions remain on the site are:

  1. Is it appropriate for our user base?
The minimum age on Blurtit is 13, so inappropriately sexual questions are removed for example.
  2. Is it likely to cause offence or negativity?
We are all for open debate, but we also take a common sense approach to what kind of debates are fair play.
  3. Does the question reveal sensitive personal details, or encourages others to do so?
For example, posting your phone number, bank details, or address is strictly against the site's terms of use.

Blurtit pages are indexed by search engines, so we have a responsibility to make sure our users aren't inadvertently posting sensitive personal information into the public domain.

Hopefully the above information should give you an idea of how the site's moderation policy works, but should you have any further questions you can always reach out to us on http://blurtit.uservoice.com/
