No. My Grandfather on my Mother's side was stationed in the Philippines during WWII.
Do any of you have a relative that landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day ? Fathers, Grandfathers, Uncles, etc ?June 6 1944.
my father fought under patton but he never said he was part of the d day invasion
My dad landed on Utah beach on July 10th, about a month after the invasion started. He was in the Dog Battery, 473rd. AAA, Auto Weapons battalion.
Luckily, there was a log book written of the entire participation of the 473rd. I can actually trace the whereabouts of my dad during most of the war.
No. My maternal grandfather was fortunate enough to stay stateside for the war. He was stationed at Ft. Dix in NJ, which was only 2 hours from home. My other grandfather didn't serve. There may have been a medical reason for it.
