The medical industry, from A to Z, is totally out of hand. Some US citizens can't afford to stay healthy and I find that pathetic.

Dear Otis,

I have two comments for you...first of all, as a retired health professional,      I will say that US medicine does not have a viable philosophy of healing. Not room here to explain that - but since they basically don't know what they are doing, they bluff through high costs.

The second observation (have already discussed this with a few Blurters)    is that I think our economy is a sophisticated version of the old European feudal system, with corporations as lords of the manor.

These epi-pens prevent death by anaphylactic shock, and not to make them freely accessible should be criminal.

Then just to wrap up, here is a quote from William Jennings Bryan                ($ figure outdated now, but the concept holds):

"No one can earn a million dollars honestly."

I read this article about it and one lady said the last prescription of two of those "pens" cost her $1200.00 ! It's a good idea but with the price increase? Who can afford to use them? These companies are rolling in the dough at our expense.

My question is - why would you deliberately alienate people by raising the price to something so completely ridiculously expensive that people will die as a result of not being able to buy this?

I don't know as I want to be that hated. But perhaps, I am over-thinking this. I think the money signs got in the way of even the slightest hint of common sense.

I think I heard One greedy female CEO went from $2.7 millions to $18 millions she told Congress it was a justifiable raise and she deserved it.

Complex subject as has been indicated.

And then there is always the issue of how to distribute resources in a world of scarcity.

But I am sure she is blessed----probably quite frequently by those who have to fork over $600 to possibly prevent their childs death.
