The UK is a Goldilocks group of islands -- a big island, a middle-sized island, and a scattering of kiddie-sized islands -- off the coast of Europe.

It has a unique weather system in that it attracts all the world's unwanted rain which falls constantly, transforming England into "a green and pleasant land."

Summer in England is a sunny afternoon interrupted by a shower of rain.

We, in Australia, can be thankful that the UK has taken away most of our cloudy skies but we'd be dead pleased if they'd give us back enough rain so that we weren't forever coping with drought.

The UK is closer to the arctic circle than it is the equator.
