they say on average yes. But that doesn't mean 1 specific  woman will outlive 1 specific man individually. Both men and women pass a various ages but they say that the overall average is that women live a bit longer.

That's true although the age disparity is more to do with lifestyle than genetics. The chart below (from the World Health Organization's Web Site) shows the life expectancy of men vs women in the 10 highest ranked nations on the planet.

It's a bit of a worry because, looking at the Australian position, I can expect to turn up my toes about October next year.

Be nice to me, kids. I have terminal old age.

Obviously an error. The US doesn't show in the top ten. I'm old and I REALLY need it to be in the top ten!

Yep on average they do. I think Didge is right that it has more to do with men having more dangerous or risky lifestyles.

Nothing good can ever come of "Here, hold my beer and watch this".

Well, yeah, sometimes men have more dangerous jobs, but that's not the problem. We also tend to knock ourselves around more -- violent sports, bad habits, reluctance to visit the doctor. Hmm, considering my venerable age I must have had a very boring life. :(

Well, when you have several chairs lined up in a row and someone says, "I can beat that, hold my beer" it's no wonder why women live lon... No wait, bad example. That was me. :)
