In terms of purpose, no, not always; as a consequence of some other action, yes, most definitely.
Does everything in life happen for a reason?
Yes .. It's a matter of cause and effect.
Personally, I believe that if an event has already occurred, it must have happened for a reason. Similarly, if an event did not occur, it wasn't meant to be.
Except perhaps for random acts of kindness.
