When I was in high school I got a funny key chain. I linked It to the zipper on my back pack. I thought it looked neat so I got another and linked it to the key chain. I began buying fun and funny key chains til my back pack had a long tail. Before I knew it the other girls at school began their linked back pack key chain tail. Lol! What's funny is when my daughter was in high school she began collecting key chains and i noticed she had a clump of key chains hanging off her purse. I asked her if she was starting a fad and she said no but thats what we are doing with our key chains at school. That's when I told her about my school days fad. Lol!
Yes, my friends, hubby and family have word or phrase trends. At home I'm known for that. I'll say a random word or phrase and it sticks. For weeks, days or for a few, years the current words or phrases are said, enjoyed, and made into many jokes.
At one time, high school age, all my clothing was black. Pants, Shirts, Coats, shoes everything black because of a private school policy. Then I transferred to a public high school. After two months I was called in to the vice principle's office and accused of starting a gang. Naturally I denied it. A phone call to my mother caused her to come flying in to the school looking for blood. Not mine but that of the vice principle. Based on the fact all my clothes were black and many of the boys in a rather large public high school started wearing all black it was assumed I was starting a gang. Basically my parents could not afford to run out and buy me all new clothes when I transferred. As a sign of protest I wore one of my old cassacks to school and the whole issue was quickly forgotten.
Yes.
At the private Christian school I attended . . . I brought the full 80's Fashion into play.
People started shopping at Chess King and Merry-Go-Round when me and my best friend came to school in their clothing.
When I was 13 I had a long medieval-style emerald green cloak. Many called it a cape, but it had a hood which makes it a cloak. I wore it everday to school. Some people actually started to wear capes or cloaks too.
