Is it fair? Amazon is offering its Amazon prime to people that are on government assistance SNAP program for $5.99. If other folks can't pay the $99.00 up front they pay $10.99 a month.

Last thing someone needs in Government assistant is an opportunity to SPEND tax payers money frivolously.

That is a poor business model.

It's just another giant retailer riding on the governments coat tails trying to suck more business from the public. Maybe they should call it Section 8 Prime.

For that $5.99 it should be limited as to what they can buy. Amazon is getting into food delivery. If they can deliver just foods that are on the SNAP program, I have no problem with it. Many of these people are disabled and shopping is a major undertaking. Others are working poor, that work long hours and live in areas where there are not a lot of grocery stores. For those people to get food and have a multimillion dollar company to help, I am for it. Now if they are ordering big ticket items or luxuries, then they need to cough up their own money for that.

It's a paid service from Amazon which entitles you to free 2 day shipping on most items, free music streaming, movie streaming, etc. You pay a monthly fee for membership.

I think amazon prime could be useful to some needy families if that was the way they bought groceries and other items, or if they could get access to ebooks or educational tv for children. Amazon might be trying to build a good reputation and get positive attention
