If someone offered you the opportunity to learn to do something amazing that you wouldn't otherwise get to do, like learn to speak Chinese in earnest, and they even offered to do it with you so that you wouldn't have to try to do it all alone, wouldn't you take them up on it?!

Not unless I was going to be in a position where I could put it to some use. There's not much call for any of the Chinese dialects in my part of the world.
