If there are no possible good (or at least genuinely satisfying) outcomes to a situation because it may in fact indeed be a Trap of some kind, then why should you or anyone else make themselves or allow themselves to get sick because of the situation?

Maybe because they are addicted to unhealthy situations..because calm is "boring" to them personally or they don't think they deserve calm . I'm not saying that's right, but it's a reason.
