Why are some popcorn boxes have much smaller box area than the top? Is it to make it appear more volumizing?
Does this shape add volume or is it just for show

Interesting opinion but then the small box area means it's going to be filled faster and has a higher chance of dripping

I once heard that firecracker went off in someone's pocket due to high temperature.can high temperature cause a firecracker or fireworks to go off?

Temperature isn't the issue.  It takes 600° F to ignite the average firework.  However putting them in a pocket wher friction can occur could set them off.
